Italian Basil

Italian Basil (green basil) is one of the oldest herbs known to mankind, making it one of the most widely used and universally understood culinary ingredients. Recognized for its versatility, it lends a distinctive anise-clove flavor to soups, sauces, salads, and meat dishes and is particularly well known as the key ingredient in Italian cuisine, including pesto.

From a nutritional perspective, Italian Basil is an excellent source of vitamin K, contains compounds that are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and provides many other healthful benefits. While available in dry formats, it is fresh basil, and essential oils made from fresh basil, that deliver the greatest functional impact.
